Tommie Betancourt, D.O.
Dr. Betancourt grew up in Ormond Beach, Florida and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida, majoring in microbiology and cell science with minors in French and chemistry. She attended medical school at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa. Missing the Florida lifestyle, Dr. Betancourt returned to the Sunshine State in 2006. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency Program as Chief Resident at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dr. Betancourt is board certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine.
Throughout her training Dr. Betancourt has held several leadership roles. In medical school she was awarded the Global Health Service Award for her efforts to improve international health through grassroots service in Belize, Mali and Kenya. She was elected to the National Board of Trustees of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association, and is a member of the American Osteopathic Association.
Along with her husband, Matt, and son, Preston, Dr. Betancourt enjoys spending time in the water SCUBA diving or at the beach, relaxing with friends, and playing with their dog, Jake.
